It’s highly unusual to see a large truck order being made up of new and used trucks. Still, if you need the trucks urgently and current manufacturing issues mean that the lead times are too great, then why not? Late used trucks these days have plenty of life left in them. That’s what flexible truck rentals company, PT Hire has just done in placing a landmark order with MAN Truck & Bus UK for 205 New TGX 26.510 6×2 tractors and a further 75 used units. The order, for 280 tractors in total, boosts the PT Hire fleet to over 700 MAN vehicles and ensures the continuity of their flexible truck rental packages which offers customers all the advantages of operating latest generation vehicles.

Stuart Dytham, CEO and Company Chairman, founded the Swadlincote, Derbyshire, based business in 2010. Today, with his wife Ann and the help of both his daughter Becky and son Tim, the family business prides itself in offering customers cost-effective commercial vehicle rental solutions, exceptional customer service and tailored packages created to suit individual operator needs.

“Over the years we’ve offered our customers MAN Trucks simply because of the reliability and efficiencies they offer,” said Stuart. “The new generation MAN trucks receive rave reviews from operators; during conversations and regular feedback sessions we hear how good both MPG and driver acceptance is, both areas which directly impact a business on a daily basis.”

“Ensuring our fleet is fresh, up to date in terms of latest technology, in perfect working order and 100 percent turnkey ready at all times is key to us meeting the needs of our growing customer base. We offer a nationwide service to our customers and at all times we feel we have the focussed support of MAN and their commercial vehicle dedicated dealer network.”

The first five new vehicles arrived at the start of April and following preparation and PDI at MAN franchised partner DSV Commercials Ltd, Immingham, have already gone out to PT Hire customers.

The 205 new vehicles will all feature the TGX’s GX cabs and will be powered by MAN six-cylinder D26 510 hp (375 kW) 12.4 litre, Euro 6 step E engines.

Stuart added; “It’s imperative that as a service provider we ensure that we supply vehicles to our customers that are both user friendly and efficient. The first five vehicles went out to KJG Transport Ltd of Grimsby and although it’s early days the feedback we’ve had from their Managing Director, Kevin Gray, is very encouraging indeed.”

Buying Used MAN Trucks

The order for 75 MAN TopUsed vehicles comprises of a mix of tractors, including late MY2019 460 hp and 500 hp models and New Generation 510 hp 26.510’s. Pre delivery, and to ensure all of these used vehicles meet the MAN TopUsed high quality standards, each vehicle will go through a rigorous 264 point inspection, which once complete means they will be certified MAN TopUsed approved.

Following in Stuart’s footsteps and ensuring the family business continues to grow and go from strength to strength, Becky Dytham, Head of Sales PT Hire, commented; “The relationships we have with MAN Truck & Bus, our local Area Sales Manager Roger Schofield and the nationwide dealer network is solidly built on trust and partnering and is something that we’ve both valued and enjoyed for over 30 years.
