A top-powered 510hp 8×4 MAN TGS is heading for the valleys to the door of South Wales haulier M&M Greene of Gorslas, near Llanelli. It will be involved in delivering bulk loads of sand and gravels to and moving spoil and muck-away from local projects and building sites.

M&M Greene’s new TGS 32.510 is one of the first New Generation 32-tonne 8X4’s to enter service in South Wales. Purchased through MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd.’s Direct Sales function and prepared and PDI’d by Swansea based MAN Franchised dealer W.G. Davies, the new fleet edition supports the traditional and instantly recognisable M&M Greene livery of green (and red).

The Green MAN’s Specification

Powered by MAN’s D26 Euro6D compliant 12.4-litre ‘straight-six’ engine, which generates 510 hp and drives both rear axles via MAN’s TipMatic 12 speed automatic transmission, the new TGS is fitted with a Wilcox Wilcosteel body. Built entirely from Hardox 450 steel with a deck thickness of 4mm, the sides, headboard and tailgate are 3mm thick and the wings and valances are made out of aluminium plate.

M&M Greene’s fleet now extends to 10 vehicles and in a break from their previous acquisition method of leasing vehicles, M&M Greene has purchased their latest truck.

“The MAN trucks we already operate have proven to be both tough and reliable,” explained Mike Greene, Managing Director M&M Greene. “In this part of the world we have some challenging hills, both on and off road, so we need dependable and solid workhorses.”

“Over the years we have formed an excellent relationship with our local MAN dealership, W.G. Davis of Swansea. The team their understand the needs of our business and offer us an outstanding level of support, helping us maximise our fleets productivity and uptime. With their 360 degree level of wrap-around care they are always on hand and ready to assist if and when needed.”

“The MAN trucks are also a firm favourite with our drivers who appreciate the cab’s spacious interior, the build quality and the overall driving experience. By adding some new creature comforts and enhancing the specification we can see this new vehicle being even more driver friendly and welcoming.” Mike added.

Operating out of the M&M Greene yard at Gorslas, the new TGS 32.510, by nature of its operation, runs at 32 tonnes GVW most of the time. Delivering aggregate products throughout South Wales and into Mid Wales the 510 hp 8×4 chassis will have all the power needed to tackle the challenging terrain.

Mike added: “We tend to run our vehicles for seven years, so we specify them to meet both today’s requirement and importantly how we see the future of the business. Historically our MAN Trucks have offered us a very cost effective solution and we are confident this new TGS will do the same.

“Operating a one driver one vehicle policy we know that our driver, Emyr (aka Mostyn) will cherish it and it will look as clean and impressive in seven years’ time.” concluded Mike.
