Strategic Network Expansion in the East of England

Scania (Great Britain) Limited has officially acquired independent dealer TruckEast, strengthening its nationwide service offering and reinforcing its commitment to customer support across the UK.

This strategic acquisition will integrate TruckEast’s extensive footprint of 17 workshops across the East of England, including locations in Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Bury St Edmunds and Norwich, into the Scania GB network.

Leadership Transition After 18 Years

As part of the agreement, TruckEast’s owner, John Biggin, has announced his retirement after leading the business for nearly two decades. Under his stewardship, TruckEast became a trusted name for Scania customers in the region.

“It’s a bittersweet moment,” commented Biggin. “After 18 years, stepping away is not easy, but I do so with immense pride in what we have achieved together. I’m confident that TruckEast’s future is secure, and I believe it will continue to thrive under the leadership of Chris and the Scania GB team.”

Chris Newitt, Managing Director of Scania UK, will succeed Biggin as Chairman, while Scania GB’s Chief Financial Officer Andreas Ödebrink and Business Operations Director Emma Wilkins will join the TruckEast board.

Continuity of Service and Support

Operationally, TruckEast will continue to function without disruption. Existing teams will remain in place, upholding the company’s high standards of customer service. The core leadership team—Harley Coulson (Managing Director), Alex Vickery (Finance Director), Martyn Clipston (Group Aftersales Director), Carl Johnson (Sales Director) and Shane Wareing (Used Sales Director)—will retain their current roles.

Customers can expect seamless support, technical expertise, and uninterrupted service from all TruckEast branches, backed by the added resources and infrastructure of Scania GB.

Strengthening Scania’s UK Dealer Network

The acquisition of TruckEast follows Scania GB’s recent purchase of Haydock Commercial Vehicles and its North West branch network. These strategic moves underline Scania’s long-term commitment to maintaining a robust, high-quality, and customer-focused dealer presence across the country.

“This is a significant occasion,” said Newitt. “TruckEast colleagues will be valuable additions to the Scania GB family. Together, we will continue to grow and develop our operations for the benefit of every Scania customer in the UK.”

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, Scania GB, TruckEast and Haydock Commercial Vehicles will work collaboratively to develop best practices and shared processes, ensuring a harmonised approach across the wider UK network.

For customers, the message remains clear: business as usual, with added strength and reliability from Scania’s expanding footprint.
