Work hard, play hard.  That is the message from Flintshire Transport Services who have taken delivery of their super-spec DAF XF from Motus Commercials in Stoke.

Their new truck has to graft all week on general haulage with no time off at the weekend as it tows the trailer containing the company’s Porsche racing car.

This does mean that the truck has been specc’d up to the eyeballs so as to impress in the race paddock.

DAF XF530 Top Spec

Dave Buchan, sole driver of the truck, explains, “Whilst the truck is kept busy fulfilling a FEDEX contract, the high spec and all the extra kit is really there to impress at the race track. Not only does this truck pull a Porsche series race trailer carrying our own race cars but we also do so for other racers too; and having such a showstopping truck helps us to attract more work.”

How to Spec a Truck

After a busy 4-years Dave’s older XF was due an upgrade, so he and company owner, Glen Broster, headed to their local Motus Commercials in Wrexham to discuss buying a new truck.

Dave continues, “We sat down with the Motus Commercials team to discuss what we were looking for and see what the available options were. We already knew that we liked the XF and the price was great when compared to other manufacturers, especially with the number of added extras and accessories in mind.”

Given its unique purpose, the duo went all out when choosing the specification for their new DAF XF FT 530, choosing pretty much every feasible option above the standard model.

Externally, the tractor unit is fitted with a full factory aerodynamics kit, aero pack, skylights, lighting pack, full LED lighting, Dura-Bright alloy wheels, double air horn set and additional Kelsa light bars. This is finished off with Grand Prix White paint, to mirror the Porsche 911 colour of the 1980’s and 1990’s, which is fully colour coded too.

Internally, the SuperSpace cab ensures ample space for all the luxuries a top race truck needs: a full leather and exclusive interior, comfort pack, exclusive pack, DAF navigation system, DAF Night Lock, fridge and microwave.  All that is missing is the kitchen sink.

All this is powered by a 530 BHP engine, with TraXon 12-speed gearbox, MX engine brake, 1500 litre fuel tanks, and full air suspension on the front and rear axles.

Dave couldn’t be more impressed, “This new DAF XF is brilliant. It has a bigger engine, is great to drive and it’s extremely comfortable – especially the memory foam mattress!”

We’re so pleased with the final product; it really does look the part. Thank you to the Motus Commercials team for being so friendly, helpful and always available whenever we need them.
