Searching for used gritter trucks for sale should happen well before the cold weather sets in. This is not always the case and when the snow and ice arrives, people then start to find a bargain used gritter and snow plough combination. You may find that buying a gritter is cheaper in the Summer months, but you will then have to store and maintain the truck until it is needed. Often gritters can have swap bodies which means that they can be used for other purposes throughout the year. This also means that it is relatively straightforward to change the chassis for a newer one and keep the gritter body. You will often find gritters set up with a snow plough configuration at the front – this will help the trucks to get through the bad weather and clear the roads, gritting or salting them after the plough has cleared the worst of the snow and ice away. There are always plenty of used gritters advertised here at Truckpages all year round.
If you have invested a small fortune in buying an electric truck, the last thing you want is for it to sit idle most of the year as it is set up for gritting operations with a fixed gritter body. Key to the truck’s flexibility is Econ’s innovative new Electric Quick Change Body (E-QCB) system, which, in addition to…

Gritters don’t tend to be replaced too often, as they tend to work for a few weeks a year – especially the specialist 4x4 trucks that can’t be as readily repurposed for the (warmer) rest of the year. With the new emissions requirements in London councils are having to change their gritters and so are taking the opportunity to trial something different. Barnet is known for being a particularly hilly part of London and to make matters worse, it has plenty of low bridges. So, the truck needs to be 4x4 but not sit too high up with the 4x4…
