If you want to operate a used Dennis Elte dustcart in any Town or City with a low emission zone in operation, then you should be specifying the Dennis Elite 6 model. The ‘Elite 6’ replaced the Elite 2 when the new emission regulations came in at the end of 2013.  Nobody is sure what happened to the Elite 3, 4 or 5! The truck uses Volvo’s 6 cylinder, D8K 7.7-litre engine, using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) technology to reach the Euro 6 standard and is rated at 280bhp  or 320bhp for 8×4 operation. The truck is driven through an Allison Transmission 3000P series gearbox which features Park Brake Auto Neutral (PBAN) and an Enhanced Converter Load Reduction (ECLR). The cab itself is by no means new – it is the original design from 1992 but driveline configurations range from a 4×2 to a 6×2 mid-lift, 6×2 mid- or rear-steer and 6×4 plus an 8×4. There is also a ‘narrow’ version with a 2250mm cab compared to the ‘Elite wide’ cab just 25 centimetres wider.
