For Auction at Protruck, Belton, Doncaster on 2024-04-10
A great choice of used DAF Flatbed trucks for sale – both LF Flats and CF flats always advertised by truck traders and directly from operators across the UK. As DAF trucks are the workhorses of the UK, the flatbed versions are even more so. They are able to handle any job thrown at them and keep on running. As the DAF LF and CF chassis come in a variety of lengths, you can find a huge variety of flatbed bodies fitted to the DAF rigid chassis. You will find all the DAF flatbeds in these pages – from a 7.5 tonne 4×2 DAF LF45.160 from 2006 to a brand-new DAF XF 8×4 flat truck fitted with a £100,000 crane. In reality it is the LF and the DAF CF models that dominate for this type of body as payload is always of paramount importance for a flatbed and in this area DAF scores highly.
The answer all depends on the duty cycle. How much do you need to carry and over what distance.
If you buy a 7.5 to 12 tonne DAF LF with payloads (after the flatbed has been fitted to the chassis) of 3 to 8 tonnes and you find you cannot get the weight on legally then you will end up back in the market for a second one or have to replace it for a larger DAF CF which operates in the 14 to 32 tonne segments. Consider too the lengths of the bodies. At 7.5 tonnes, a standard size would be around 21ft in length. Oddly, shorter and longer versions are often in demand as fewer were made. Expect an 18-tonne DAF flat to have a 28ft body with a 6×2 26 tonne example slightly longer again.
As with all DAF trucks, if they have been well maintained then they should always represent a sound investment in the used market. With a flatbed version, there is relatively little that can go wrong with the body. Make sure the floor is in good repair, as it is exposed to the weather all year round. It is not a huge job to replace, but it is better to find an example with a solid floor.
Check the lashing points are sound and that the fixings to the chassis are fit for purpose.
