You can find all ages of used MAN tractor units for sale at Truckpages. From the TGA which stood in for the ERF brand at the turn of the century to the modern, well-engineered TGS and TGX tractor units.
MAN tractor units are divided into the cab size. It’s all about the width. If you want a wider cab for longer distance operation, then opt for the top of the range TGX.
For this reason, the MAN TGS is often seen as a rigid truck – especially as a tipper, but for high payload, local operations such as fuel deliveries, the MAN TGS tractor unit is often seen kitted out as a pet regs prime mover.
The most common MAN tractor unit on the UK’s roads is the TGX. Replacing the TGA in 2006 at Euro 4, the TGX was a huge improvement over the outgoing model. Other key dates to look for when choosing a MAN tractor unit is the introduction of the Euro 6 range to the UK in 2014 and in 2020 when the ‘Second Generation’ TGX started to appear on the roads.
The cab sizing lettering has proven tricky to follow over the years. From launch in 2004 the TGX came as XL, XLX and XXL cabs (the smaller TGA cabs rebranded as TGS). In the new 2020 model range, the sizes have changed to GX, GM and GN from the largest to smallest.
Models with the D26 (12.4 litre) engine from 2009 until the end of 2011 has some engine issues. Nothing wrong with the fundamental engine, but intercooler leakages caused knock-on effects and crankshaft bearing failure. The smaller D20 10.5 litre engine was not affected. MAN did their best to fix the 3,000 or so effected examples in the UK, but please check what work has been carried out if you are thinking of buying one.

That’s what flexible truck rentals company, PT Hire has just done in placing a landmark order with MAN Truck & Bus UK for 205 New TGX 26.510 6x2 tractors and a further 75 used units. The order, for 280 tractors in total, boosts the PT Hire fleet to over…>
MAN Truck & Bus took the wraps off their new electric TGX tractor unit by showing it being driven for the first time as they prepare for the truck to run through pre-production trials. ABB E-mobility, a global provider of charging solutions for electric vehicles, aims to bring megawatt charging technology to the market in the next three years. If this happens, then heavy-duty, long-haul transport with daily ranges between 600 and 800 kilometres could be possible. "We need to…>
