The majority of Mercedes crane trucks for sale here at Truckpages are across the heavier weight ranges. This means for the older models expect to see Axor models, rather than the smaller Ategos. This may be down to the relatively high unladen weight of the 7.5 tonners – when adding a crane to the truck there isn’t a great deal of payload remaining. The Mercedes Atego crane trucks that are available on the second hand truck market are typically running at a gross vehicle weight of 12 tonnes giving them a much more acceptable payload and a quality truck to boot. Since the Axor was phased out back in 2013, expect to see newer 18 and 26-tonne Mercedes Antos trucks with cranes appearing on the used market and for the latest trucks then you will need an Actros or Axor model, (the Antos didn’t last long).
No better reason to replace a truck with an almost identical one – simply that the outgoing truck performed seamlessly for twenty years. That’s what South Wales builders’ merchant Undy Building & Timber Supplies did when replacing their old Mercedes Atego with a new one from Euro Commercials. New Atego Specification A 1321 model, the latest addition to the fleet is powered by a 210 hp, 5.1-litre engine and has a…
