The DAF CF Tractor units are the real workhorses. Not meant for flashy international tris abroad nor as fleet flagships, these tractor units with a lighter weight cab are used for high payload operations that typically work more locally. Think bulk haulage. In this type of operation every kilo counts as far as payload is concerned, so the high powered 11-litre (450hp post 2017) is often favoured over the 13-litre equivalent that is also available. However, it’s not all about high payload operation as a 6×2 tractor unit, the DAF CF tractor unit is sometimes configured as a lighter-weight local truck as a 4×2 for more urban deliveries. These models are DAF ‘FT’ and are available with the MX-11 or MX-13 engines, but will usually be seen with the smaller of the two units. At Truckpages we have separate categories for the Pet Regs and Heavy Haulage DAF CF tractor units, so , if you are looking for these, head on over to there.
The DAF CF tractor unit was replaced towards the end of 2023 by the newly designed cab of the DAF XD range.
The 37-tonne GCW fully-electric tractor units join Amazon’s ‘middle mile’ delivery fleet, and will be transporting goods - all with zero tailpipe emissions. The five DAF CF Electric trucks are the first electric middle mile trucks Amazon is operating in Europe. The vehicles mark an important milestone towards the electrification of Amazon’s fleet, forming part of Shipment Zero – Amazon’s goal to deliver 50% of Amazon shipments with net-zero carbon by 2030. The five vehicles replace diesel trucks, resulting in up to 100,000 annual road miles fuelled with renewable electricity, preventing about 170 tonnes of CO2 being emitted. The DAF…
It seems that Cardiff-based international freight forwarders, Freight Systems Express Wales (FSEW) is well ahead of the curve. The business is aiming to be carbon ‘net-zero’ before 2025 and their first major step is to invest in a pair of DAF CF tractor units – a trial before an order for a further 10 units is placed. This is the UK’s first order for battery electric heavy tractor units, as well as a first order for DAF Trucks and its new zero-emissions product offering. The order was rubberstamped last week at the ITT Hub exhibition and conference in Farnborough, where…
