For operators who need to move around serious machinery, then they usually consider a Scania G Series beavertail. Scania is a premium truck brand and their G_Series range of trucks are well suited to the task. Usually seen as an eight wheeler and sporting an expensive crane over the 9 tonne front axle, the highly specified trucks are significant investments and do not come onto the market as used examples too often. If you can find a decent used example, then snap it up as the cost of a Scania G Series beavertail new – fully kitted out can run well into six figures. The sweet spot power-wise for these trucks is the 450hp mark. Operators could get by with less, but operating a PTO and running fully laden across hilly terrain is made easier with plenty of power on tap – especially in drawbar spec with a gross train weight of up to 44 tonnes.
