The latest truck to come out of the DAF stable is the DAF XD. Check back here frequently for offers for DAF XD trucks for sale when it becomes available in the UK from 2023. The XD will, no doubt, eventually replace the ageing CF cab, but DAF are initially launching it to sit alongside. This will be because there are so many variants of this truck it is not possible to launch with them all at the same time. This new truck is based on the same platform as the recently launched DAF XG and new XF version that are still a rare sight on the UK’s roads even into Summer 2022. Deep windows and optional curb windows mean that the direct vision standards should not be an issue. Joining the new cab is a revised PACCAR MX11 driveline that will, no doubt, offer efficiency savings over the outgoing model, plus a revised front and rear end suspension set up. The driver will get a large cab – up to 10m3 in the largest examples and a host electronic wizardry. As more detailed information becomes available we will update these pages.
As the DAF XD was originally launched using just the 11 litre PACCAR MX-11 the range was nowhere near complete. In June 2023, DAF introduced a revised PX-7 engine and 8-speed Powerline automatic transmission. The 6.7 litre PX-7 was initially available at a range of powers from 230 hp – 310hp and complements the existing versions that have the 10.8-litre PACCAR MX-11 engine and ratings from 300 hp 450 hp.
The 6.7-litre 6-cylinder PACCAR PX-7 engine has been completely redesigned. The non-EGR engine features a new, low-weight yet strong Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) block and cast-iron cylinder head, new low-friction pistons, a new highly efficient compressor and a new turbo charger. The engine is available in 4 output ratings: 167 kW/230 hp, 189 kW/260 hp, 212 kW/290 hp and 227 kW/310 hp. For fuel efficiency and supreme driver comfort, maximum torque is already available at very low engine speeds.
Just six months after the introduction of the PX-7 engine, once again, DAF expanded the range of XD variants available. Wheelbase options were increased to include a 6.7 metre length and a range of cabs including sleeper cab and sleeper cab high.

DAF Trucks has retained market leadership in the UK truck industry for a record 30th year. Following the SMMT’s publication of 2024 registration figures, the DAF brand captured 28.4% share of the truck market above six-tonnes GVW, representing 12,780 vehicle registrations. The achievement ensures that DAF Trucks continues its leading position despite a marginal decline from its consistent above-30% market share over the last five years. It is understood that the milestone means that DAF Trucks is the only company in the UK, and from any industry, to have maintained market leadership over such an extended period. This sustained period…
