The LF210 first hit the UK’s roads back in 2014 in Euro 6 form. This 5-litre 4×2 rigid is available across a wide weight range, so be careful which particular LF210 you are looking at. Watch the Weight Always ask the gross vehicle weight of these trucks. They start at 7.5 tonnes, but the 210hp engine is a little overpowered for this job, so these are rare. Expect to see larger numbers of these trucks on the 12 tonne GVW weight mark and the rest at top weight if 15-16 tonnes. At these higher weights the LF210 is working at its most efficient – however, there are more powerful versions available. the LF230 gives that bit more power – but at the expense of a heavier, 7-litre PX-7 engine. If you are considering the LF230 the the LF260 or the LF290 may be a better bet – still using the 7-litre engine, but with more get up and go. An easy way to get an indication of the GVW from the pictures if the advertiser has not entered the GVW is to check out the size of the wheels and tyres.
The used market for the LF210 is a broad one – there are all kinds of body types available when compared to the lower-powered models which typically concentrate on the box van segment. Expect to find skiploaders, hookloaders and beavertails amongst the curtainsiders and box trucks.
DAF Trucks has introduced a revised range of drivelines for its LF series of trucks. The new PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines in combination with the new automatic 8-speed PowerLine gearboxes result in up to 7% higher fuel efficiency compared to the already very efficient models. There is no mention of the lower-powered 3.8 litre PX-4 engine that is used at power outputs of 156 and 172hp but DAF have introduced a lower powered option in the PX-5 suggesting that the engine range has been rationalised with the lowest output now 170hp. Across the range, the incoming model has a…
If you think that we don’t make trucks in this country, think again. The US, PACCAR-owned Leyland Trucks is churning out every DAF truck in the range at a pace. So much so that the Lancashire-based manufacturer has celebrated the production of its 500,000th vehicle. The half million milestone truck – a 16-tonne GVW DAF LF 210 – was handed over to customer, Minoli, at a special production line ceremony on 2nd December. The DAF LF 210 is the first of four new trucks for Minoli – a leading importer and distributor of Italian porcelain tiles. Two of the vehicles…
If a company’s sole business is to supply support services, you would expect it to know a thing or two about providing support. So it is high praise indeed when specialist support-vehicle provider to the TV and film industry, Facilities by ADF, praises their local DAF dealer to such an extent that they have decided to only buy DAF trucks in the future. The company is expanding its exclusively DAF fleet with an additional 25 trucks to deliver on-location support for shows including The Crown, War of the Worlds, Peaky Blinders and the Marvel film franchise. The DAF Trucks come…
