R500 buyers need to look closely, as the same model designation could buy you a Euro 3, 15.6-litre, V8 DC16 version from 2004 onwards or a much more modern 13-litre straight 6 at Euro 6. Use the filters wisely on the search facility on Truckpages to make sure you get the truck you are looking for. The latest R500 trucks (from 2020) are SCR only and can run on up to 100% HVO. Post-2009 models will have received the facelift – noticeable by the grille and dashboard and lost the ‘third’ pedal (namely the clutch) – you will see details of ‘2-pedal Opticruise’ in certain adverts. Prior to this time, the driver needed the clutch to start and stop with the automated Opticruise gearbox. There are plenty of Scania R500 trucks for sale at Truckpages.
