First revealed in 2012 but not hitting the UK’s shores until 2014, the XF460 sat alongside its bigger and smaller brothers the XF410 and XF510. All three were fitted with the Euro 6 PACCAR MX-13 12.9-litre, 6-cylinder engine. The XF460 was available with the 12-speed ZF gearbox as standard, but buyers could specify the 16-speed as an extra option. Although the 2013 model year XF460 used the same basic cab structure as the outgoing XF105.460, there were tonnes of upgrades carried out. In addition to the XF460 being Euro 6 vs the outgoing model the added tech means that if you can afford the newer truck, go for it. It may be 90kg heavier, but it is better on fuel, futureproof, safer and a lot better to drive. The XF460 was replaced at the by two trucks – the XF450, a 450HP 11-Litre, 6-cylinder and the XF480 with the PACCAR MX-13. The XF460 looks like it was the most popular in the UK, judging by the numbers that are now advertised in the used market.
