Better than having the brand-new registration plate on March or September 1st, Abacus logistics have the first new generation MAN TGX in the country. That’s showing off.

The family-run company is clearly a good customer of MAN, so it is only right that they get the first TGX to work on the UK’s roads.

Clearly proud of their new truck, the 44-tonne TGX 6×2, 26.510 tractor, in brilliant Traffic White wears the Abacus A-roadway design livery and features the recently revised naming for the ‘GX’ cab.

This is a great honour for us to be chosen as the first UK operator to take delivery of the UK’s first new generation MAN truck. We have a long and established relationship with MAN and this new flagship will join our existing fleet of 35 44 tonne vehicles.

‘Number One’ – Is that showing off?

Abacus – The Company

Based just metres from the main entrance to Southampton Docks, the second-largest container port in the UK, Abacus Logistics’ New MAN TGX will be joined by five other new MAN tractors delivering both imported containerised goods and palletised products across the UK and collecting customer consignments for export through the Hampshire port.

Peter Carr, CEO Abacus Logistics Ltd said, “As a family run business we all, across the entire team, pride ourselves in the relationships we have with our loyal customer base, an approach that we know is both appreciated and valued. Over the last few years MAN have clearly adopted the same approach and their customer first level of service, support and focus is clear to see.”

Established in 2004 Abacus Logistics Ltd offers a variety of efficient, reliable and secure road freight services, including import and export container haulage, reefer services, express pallet distribution and storage. All vehicles have GPS tracking systems which delivers accurate information to customers about their goods location and delivery status.

As well as specialising in containerised delivery services Abacus Logistics also offers a devanning service for containers of all sizes. This includes devanning and delivering a wide range of items, from small cartons of personal effects to classic cars and boats. They can also help customers with Export agents, Custom clearance, Vehicle exports and imports, Packing services and a comprehensive range of light, heavy, international, road and low-loader haulage services.

Abacus – Truck Buying Criteria

Peter continued, “Safety, driver comfort and fuel efficiency are all major consideration factors when we look at purchasing new vehicles. We need to ensure that do all we can to protect both our drivers throughout their working days and at the same time other vulnerable road users. High levels of comfort help ensure our drivers are both happy and productive during their day, and as fuel amounts to around 30 percent of total vehicle running costs, having an efficient and clean vehicle is paramount. We feel we have addressed all of these needs with MAN.”

“We’re looking forward to both handing this new vehicle over to our driver, who is very excited to be handed the keys to the first new generation TGX in the UK and seeing the telematics feedback which will I’m sure support MAN’s eight percent MPG improvement.” concluded Peter.

The local dealership in Southampton, Harwoods Truck and Van Centre, Totton, understands the requirements of our business, their link in our success and the need to keep our vehicles 100 percent turnkey ready at all times.
