Searching for used gritter trucks for sale should happen well before the cold weather sets in. This is not always the case and when the snow and ice arrives, people then start to find a bargain used gritter and snow plough combination. You may find that buying a gritter is cheaper in the Summer months, but you will then have to store and maintain the truck until it is needed. Often gritters can have swap bodies which means that they can be used for other purposes throughout the year. This also means that it is relatively straightforward to change the chassis for a newer one and keep the gritter body. You will often find gritters set up with a snow plough configuration at the front – this will help the trucks to get through the bad weather and clear the roads, gritting or salting them after the plough has cleared the worst of the snow and ice away.
