This specialist truck and trailer search contains all the commercial vehicles with coil wells installed in their bodies. Some of these trucks will be specially designed coil carriers with the whole length of the body fitted with the ‘hole in the floor’ where the metal coils sit to make safe transportation easier. These trucks will often be primarily flatbed trucks, often with a sliding ’tilt’ style body that can be slid back to reveal the load bed. This facilitates loading from a gantry above as there is no roof to get in the way. Other bodies may simply have a sliding roof to facilitate this type of loading in addition to using a forklift for loading coils. Other trucks and trailers on this page will have some coil well cut outs in their floors (often covered over so can be used as a normal body). These covers can be removed and the coilwell revealed to load the reels of metal into the body. Without these special cut outs in the floor, metal coils are notoriously tricky to strap down safely.
