Hino trucks were brought into the UK from the Irish assembly company, Harris Assemblers. The Hino truck brand is owned by Toyota and the plan was to enter the European market with a multi axle rigid offering in the first instance. This coincided with the closure of the Foden brand and the availability of ex-Foden dealers who were already specialists in this market. The Hino trucks performed well in this environment and were well priced. However, the company did not support the set up after Euro 4 – there were no Euro 5 trucks and when Euro 6 came along the remaining stock of unused vehicles was sold off. There are still plenty of used examples available and it seems that parts can be come by. Increasingly they will become destined for the export markets.
