CNG truck buyers have come to the right place, we list used CNG powered trucks and vans for sale on these pages. CNG Powered trucks are a greener alternative to diesel, especially when run on Bio Methane which is produced from waste. CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas and is the safer and easier form than the ulta cold Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) that is also used to power trucks. The CNG versions will store the gas at a lower density, which means that the truck will have a shorter range than an LNG truck, but CNG is easier to store and dispense and there are more opportunities to refuel than with LNG. Do not confuse CNG and LPG, the latter is a gas made during the refining of oil. Popular manufacturers of gas trucks are Iveco, Scania and Volvo Trucks. Of these, Iveco are leading the charge with their ‘NP’ range which includes 6×2 tractor units and use a combustion engine running on ust gas, unlike Scania who use a compression engine which requires the use of some diesel.
Bristol City Council has introduced a new library van to its fleet to distribute books between its 27 libraries across the city, providing an important service to constituents. Based on a 7-tonne Iveco Daily CNG van with twin rear wheels (70C14G V/P), this vehicle runs on 100% renewable Bio-CNG (compressed natural gas), enabling a significant reduction of harmful emissions. The City of Bristol is on a mission to improve air quality, with cleaner vehicles playing a big part in reducing overall emissions. Clean Air Zones have been introduced that see polluting vehicles that do not meet standards paying a daily…
DHL Group has placed an order for a total of 178 new IVECO S-Way CNG for its Post & Parcel Germany division, expanding its fleet to more than CNG 450 trucks. The new trucks powered by bio-CNG will further reduce DHL Group's carbon footprint and contribute significantly to the decarbonization of road transport. IVECO S-WAY CNG with box body Of the units on order, 161 IVECO S-Way CNG trucks fitted with an AD190S34/P CNG box body will be used for shorter distances and day trips. The trucks feature a 4x2 standard chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 19 tonnes,…
If you have to drive through central London for a show, it’s best to do so in the greenest vehicle available. That’s why Iveco got involved in the Lord Mayor’s show once more.Dating back to the early 13th century, The Lord Mayor’s Show is steeped in history, and in 2022 IVECO took part in the event by providing an IVECO S-WAY Natural Gas tractor unit to pull one of the many eye-catching floats being displayed. London has worked hard to reduce emissions from vehicles entering the city over the years, and so the IVECO S-WAY was the ideal choice for…
Biomethane from the right sources is about as green a fuel as you can get for long distance transport today. That’s why Scania’s recent contribution to the promotion of the fuel is vital for the environment in the short to medium term. A new initiative called the Biomethane Industrial Partnership has been initiated by the European Commission. The aim is to increase the production of biomethane tenfold. Scania is co-founder and represents the transport sector in this partnership. Biomethane is the most rapidly scalable and cost-efficient renewable gas available. But scaling up biomethane production and use requires coordination and structuring…
Given the current situation with Russia and the interruption of natural gas supplies across Europe, you could be forgiven for thinking that the gas-powered truck is set to become a piece of motoring history. Nonetheless, you would still be mistaken. The real win from a gas-engined truck is not the use of slightly cleaner and slightly cheaper (usually) fossil gas, but in running the vehicles on Biomethane. Methane is usually a by-product of something smelly rotting away and is sent into the atmosphere. This is a bad thing as it contributes more to global warming than CO2. The methane is…
