BJ Waters have been in the general handling industry for over 90 years. Operating from their three depots in the Midlands, their modern, highly efficient transport fleet delivers a range of materials across the UK and Europe. The company has been family run for four generations and have, in recent years, added new Scania vehicles to their fleet of articulated vehicles specialising in bulk tipper movement and hazardous loads.
Keltruck Scania’s chairman Chris D. Kelly met James Waters through family friends, which sparked a partnership between the two established companies. James commented:
James Waters commented, “During a casual conversation Chris queried why our fleet didn’t feature the Scania product, which got us thinking. Following this we trialed the demonstrators and had many meetings with Keltruck’s sales team before adding the vehicles to the fleet, and we haven’t looked back since.”
Geo. Siddall, another general haulage business acquired by BJ Waters in the 1960s, has expanded to specialise in Hiab cranes and tail lifting. The combined expertise within the two ventures means they can be relied upon to handle customer’s materials with the minimum fuss.
Keltruck Account Manager Calum Crooks supplied BJ Waters with their first Scania, which went on the road in March 2020. They currently have a mixed fleet and as of September this year – when three new vehicles were delivered – have 29 Scania vehicles in their fleet, with a further six on order for 2024.
Geo. Siddall took delivery of their first and only Scania in March this year meaning a total of 30 Scania vehicles between the two companies, nearly a third of the fleet. Keltruck are also delighted to announce that Geo Siddall currently have an eight wheeler in production at the factory and two tractor units on order for 2024.
The BJ Waters fleet is based in Matlock, Derbyshire and consists predominantly of tractor units with tipping trailers, while Geo Siddall run a mixed fleet of rigids and tractors units, some with curtainside trailers and bodies and some with flatbed bodies and trailers. In addition to this, some of the flatbed vehicles are fitted with truck-mounted forklifts or cranes. With this impressive stock between both companies it is easy to see how they can cover a wide range of transport industry requirements.
BJ Waters have been using Keltruck to service their Scania vehicles at Keltruck’s Sutton in Ashfield location and, after the two years repair and maintenance supplied with the vehicle, elected to extend this for an additional five years through Keltruck contracts due to excellent service.
In addition, BJ Waters have recently put six 21 plate vehicles, whose two year factory repair and maintenance period expired earlier this year, on a five year repair and maintenance contract.
The majority of the fleet is still within the factory repair and maintenance period, with most of the vehicles maintained by Keltruck’s Sutton depot, with a small amount being maintained outside of their region.
Account Manager Calum Crooks is rightly proud of the relationship and growth between the companies since that first Scania Keltruck supplied went on the road in March 2020. He says:
Calum Crookes said, “It is a privilege to deal with BJ Waters, a long-established professional family firm that are very well known in the haulage industry. We will continue to do all we can to make sure we are providing BJ Waters with the best service possible, and the working relationship continues to strengthen.”
