On these pages we show all trucks that are all-wheel-drive – at least those that are two axle trucks with all wheel drive. Most people will associate 4×4 trucks with pick ups, but they are much more than that. At Truckpages there are often specialist ex-military 4×4 trucks for sale like those General Service (GS) Leyland DAF trucks from the 1990s and the newer MAN Military trucks (although these tend to be 6×6 or 8×8). Practical uses for 4×4 trucks in the UK are for cherry pickers that need to navigate inhospitable areas to repair overhead cables – think Mercedes Unimogs! The most common 4×4 trucks available are from MAN, Mercedes and Iveco.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK has revealed the all-new UNI-TOUCH operating system for the Unimog implement carrier, which is available to order now ahead of first deliveries in the second half of the year. The manufacturer is making the announcement at LAMMA 2024 – the UK’s leading agricultural machinery, equipment and technology show – where it is exhibiting its new U535 demonstrator equipped with optional Comfort Steering, Hydropneumatic rear suspension and a rear Power Take-Off (PTO). The new UNI-TOUCH operating system is leaner, more flexible and fully-customisable. While it is characterised mainly by a new electronic architecture, hidden under the skin, the…
West Cornwall Removals are well known for helping people move house, but the tragic situation in Ukraine will see its Iveco Daily 4x4 deliver medical aid to wounded animals. The seven Iveco Dailys of family-run West Cornwall Removals in their distinctive red and white colours are a familiar sight in Penzance - the company’s home of over 25 years. These 7-tonne Hi-Matic models (70C18) are also used to bring relief to those afflicted by the situation in Ukraine. Driving across Europe in convoy with other members of the West Cornwall Removals fleet, these Dailys have previously successfully delivered food and…
First of all, it certainly looks the part. If you need a proper off-roader that has a 4 tonne plus payload you would have to dig deep and invest in a Unimog. Now Iveco have made their 4x4 Daily Tigrotto available in right hand drive, there is a viable alternative to the pricy Unimog. First revealed at IAA 2022 in Hannover, the IVECO Daily 4x4 Tigrotto proved to be a star of the show. Initially launched exclusively in left-hand drive, the positive reaction to this special edition vehicle means it will now be offered in right-hand drive. Based upon the…
If you thought that self-driving trucks were a thing of the future, then you are wrong. Home Farm (Charlton) Estates’ latest Mercedes Unimog 4x4 can actually drive itself. Supplied to the Oxfordshire arable grower by Dealer Arthur Ibbett, the UGE U430 implement carrier is one of the UK’s first Unimogs to be fitted with the manufacturer’s Comfort Steering option. This means that it can be integrated with aftermarket RTK GNSS (Real-Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System) automated steering. This allows pinpoint positioning and control of vehicles undertaking tasks such as cultivation, seeding and harvesting. In addition to driving itself, the…
Fire officers in Cornwall have responded to the increasing frequency of wildfires and flash floods by commissioning an extreme off-road Mercedes-Benz Unimog that can be kitted out to tackle both types of incident and much more besides. The high mobility Unimog UHE will transport mission-specific ‘pods’, each of which is packed with specialist equipment. These are the work of prime contractor Emergency One (UK), of Cumnock, Ayrshire, a leading manufacturer of appliances and specialist vehicles for fire services. Its conversion design included three sets of access steps that fold up against both sides and the rear of the pods while…
