MAN’s smaller cabbed sibling to the top of the range TGX, the MAN TGS is a fleet truck through and through.  The TGS replaced in part the wide range of cabs from the outgoing TGA models.  The TGA range was split in two – the narrower smaller M, L and LX cabs becoming the TGS and the wider cabs the TGX. As a result, the TGS is typically used as a construction 8×4 tipper or hookloader, although can be seen in local, urban distribution set up -anything that needs a narrow-cabbed truck with a low unladen weight and good visibility. When launched for Euro 4 back in 2007, the TGS was available with MAN’s D20 or D26 with outputs from 400 to 480hp.

The 2020 model year TGS comes with MAN’s D26 or D15 engine, with power outputs from 330 to 510hp. Flexibility is key and MAN have made the TGS available not just as a straightforward 4×2 or 6×2 tractor unit or rigids, the TGS is at home with 6×4, 8×2 and 8×4 setups.  For truck buyers who want a little more, then the TGS is available as all wheel drive 4×4, 6×6, 8×6 or 8×8 versions. The UK used truck market has more used TGS tractor units than any other type.  Of particular note is the large number of ‘pet reg’ versions available. There are plenty of crane trucks, grabloaders, brick carriers and hookloader conversions showing that the TGS lends itself well to adding a crane to the chassis.
