If you are looking to buy a modern-looking truck for on-off road applications, then the DAF XDC is the newest on the block. Don’t expect to find many used examples any time soon as the construction version of the DAF XD range was only available in the UK from Summer 2023 so early available ex-demonstrators will be well sought after. Expect to find the XDC range coming onto the used market in greater numbers from 2026 onwards. The DAF XDC comes with robust steel bumper, radiator protection and a 25 degree approach angle and the all-important three star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) rating for use in the London area after October 2024.
Two more new DAF XDC eight wheelers have just joined the Workington specialists in groundworks and plant hire fleet of Phillip Carruthers Ltd. And just like Carruthers’ previous XDC tippers, both are fitted with the same tipping set up. Carruthers acquires its trucks from stock vehicles held by MOTUS Commercials in Carlisle, which in turn looks to L. Townend Ltd of Holmfirth in Yorkshire to fit the chassis with their bodies and HARSH front end (FE) tipping cylinders. Revealed at this year’s IAA show in Germany, DAF have announced that they have achieved an additional 3% improvement in the new generation range of XD, XF and XG trucks through driveline and aerodynamic improvements. We are seeing increasing numbers of DAF’s new generation XF and XG cabs on the UK’s roads. Now it is the turn of the latest XDC cab to roll out in numbers. Now there is a multi axle version available for tipping use, they should become a commonplace sight on the building sites of the UK.
