These 1824 Actros trucks are the workhorses of the range. 18 tonne rigids at Euro 6 (after 2013) are used mainly for local distribution. The Actros took over from the discontinued Antos brand at the 18-tonne weight range around 2015/16 so if you are looking for a slightly older model, you should consider the Antos (from 2013 to 2015/6). If you are looking for an older-still 18-tonne Mercedes truck, then the earlier model was called the Axor. this was phased out in 2013 to make way for the discontinued Antos. The trucks looks the same, it simply appears to be a branding issue – the Actros is now a strong brand and the 1824 is proving popular.
Airport Autos are showing off their Mercedes Actros 1824 crash cushion truck that also appears in their advertisement on page 13. There is a choice of these important impact protection vehicles, all 2019 models with around 119,000 kms showing. Replacing older, zero star trucks, it was important that the new trucks had to operate in central London over the course of their lifetime. With the all-important three DVS stars, the three new Actros bought by Platinum Transport Solutions are the Kent-based operator’s first trucks to wear the famous three-pointed star. The trucks were delivered to FORS Gold-accredited Platinum’s head office in Belvedere, on the south bank of the Thames, by Dealer Sparshatt Truck & Van. Two are 18-tonne GVW 1824 models, with 7.7-litre ‘straight six’ engines each generating 238 hp; the third is a 26-tonne 2530, with a 300…
Just five years ago Ken White Distribution ran only Swedish-built trucks – today, all but three of its 26 vehicles wear the three-pointed star of Mercedes-Benz. The Andover-based operator has gradually transformed the profile of its fleet by acquiring four or five new trucks each year from local Dealer Marshall Truck & Van. It has just added another 4x2 Actros tractor unit and a pair of 18-tonners from the same model range, which have box bodies by Wessex Vehicle Services, of Salisbury. As previously, Ken White Distribution secured competitive funding from Mercedes-Benz Finance and has signed-up to Complete Service Contracts.…
Nobilia Projects, the British contracts division of Europe’s largest kitchen manufacturer, has replaced their mixed fleet with seven new Mercedes Actros trucks. The seven Actros rigids are based at the 55,000 sq ft UK head office and distribution centre that Nobilia GB opened in 2018 on the Kingsway Business Park, Rochdale, a stone’s throw from Junction 21 of the M62. Supplied by Ciceley Commercials, they are the subject of a Mercedes-Benz Finance contract hire agreement under which routine inspections and maintenance are carried out at the Dealer’s Bolton workshop. Its latest trucks – four 26-tonners and three 18-tonners – are…
Even if a truck only works within a 10 mile radius of its base, it has to be reliable and safe. To buy their first truck for local operation, Wessington Cryogenics chose a Mercedes Actros. The 18-tonne Actros was supplied by local Dealer Bell Truck and Van and boasts the manufacturer’s new MirrorCam system. The vehicle has a Classic Space S day cab and, as an 1824 variant, employs a 7.7-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that produces 175 kW (238 hp); this is paired with an eight-speed Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated manual transmission. Its platform body, meanwhile, is by Dependable Bodies,…
