DAF Trucks has started its DAF EV Relay, with two DAF LF Electric 4×2 rigids on a tour of its Dealer Network to train and familiarise staff at all 34 of the company’s truck sales centres in the UK and Ireland.

Each DAF Dealer will drive an LF Electric to its location before delivering hands-on familiarisation training for staff, designed to build confidence and an extensive EV knowledge base across the DAF Dealer Network.

The two trucks, setting-off from opposite ends of England, are specially liveried to highlight range performance, environmental benefits and potential cost savings as evidenced from the 18-month Battery Electric Truck Trial (BETT) which concluded at the end of September. The BETT is designed to encourage operators in the uptake of battery electric vehicles, with real-world, operational results published on a dedicated website: bett-cenex.co.uk. The final report is due for publication shortly.

Dedicated DAF EV Network

All DAF Truck Sales Centres are committed to becoming an official DAF Electric Truck Centre. Requirements include DAF EV and PACCAR Charger specialists in truck sales, parts and aftersales support. Specialist tooling, training and fully equipped facilities will enable diagnosis, service and repair of electric trucks, together with on-site charging facilities. Every DAF Electric Truck Centre will have at least one Electric Demonstrator for customer evaluation, and fully-trained DAF Dealer Electric Truck Sales Specialists will be able to guide operators through their transition to zero emissions transport, considering routes, vehicles and charging infrastructure.

DAF offers a broad range of PACCAR Chargers and has already trained many of the team to support the growing number of DAF Electric Trucks already in operation, with technicians following the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) accreditation scheme supplemented by DAF product specific training.
