Typically for sale at the higher end of the weight range – in 8×2 2 tonne configuration – these plant lorries will often have an expensive crane added to help moving the stationary machinery in addition to the ramps and sloping beaver tail to help wheeled and tracked machinery to be loaded. These plant body trucks are often referred to as Scania cheesewedge trucks. This refers to the folding nature of the ramps that do not actually stick up in the air like a real beaver’s tail, but fold flat on the body to create additional loading area on top.
Lutterworth, Leicestershire based Nationwide Platforms has turned to Keltruck to equip its fleet with Scania vehicles. The UK’s largest provider of powered access equipment has taken delivery of 69 Scania vehicles supplied by Keltruck. Comprising a mix of 19 rigids and 50 tractor units, these are the first Scania vehicles to be operated by the company.
