The Scania R520 is the lowest powered version of Scania’s might 16-litre V8 engine. In fact, there are higher output 13-litre versions available that would save an operator in weight terms but it will not get them the V8 badge and the kudos that goes with it. The R520 has been replaced by a newer model around 2020 – the lowest powered V8 is now the 530hp version. Operators have had the choice of all five cabs for the R520 , from the low day cab to the Highline sleeper, so shop around for the cab type that best suits your operation.
