Dawsongroup plc has placed an order for 270 3.5-tonne Iveco Daily light commercial vehicles following positive reaction and response from operators who have rented the initial batch of 350 Daily vans that began to populate the Dawsongroup fleet across the country last year.
Iveco UK Light Business Line Director, Mike Cutts, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many derivatives of the Iveco Daily form part of this fleet as it really highlights the model’s sheer versatility. We’re also delighted that Dawsongroup has extended its interest into Iveco’s LCV offering alongside its heavy vehicles.”
This includes chassis cab models equipped with Luton boxes, single and crew cab tippers, dropsides, and tool pod tipper bodies, highlighting the huge range of applications for the Daily. A 1,154kg payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity will enable Dawsongroup customers to complete even the most demanding of missions.
Calvin Moore, Dawsongroup vans Fleet Director, said: “In addition to the five different sub-derivatives we already have on fleet from Iveco, we’re introducing panel van derivatives later in 2023. These will be a welcome – and substantial – addition to the fleet.”
Daily Driveline
Supplied by Northern Commercials, the Iveco Daily are powered by a 140bhp 2.3-litre diesel engine, balancing good fuel economy with a strong 370Nm of torque. Many of these vehicles will be working with construction and utility companies, so taking advantage of the Iveco Daily’s new durable manual gearbox was an ideal choice. Clutch endurance has been improved by 18% versus the previous model while gearchange motion is even more precise with free play reduced by 50%. This added robustness also results in 350,000km oil change intervals.
Safety and comfort are essential for Dawsongroup, with every Iveco Daily featuring the residual-boosting business trim level which features as standard manual air conditioning, cruise control, fog lights and electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors. Also standard on all Daily models are HI-ADAPTIVE memory foam seats that serve to reduce pressure peaks by up to 30%. This boosts comfort behind the wheel and reduces fatigue. They also feature City Mode, a system that minimises steering effort for operators as they take full advantage of the Daily’s class-leading turning circle.
In-Vehicle Connectivity
A great asset of these Daily, that Dawsongroup customers can take advantage of, is Iveco Driver Pal and leading Telematics Connectivity Box. Powered by Amazon Alexa, the driver assistant allows users to manage route planning, provide fuel efficiency advice, and monitor vehicle health all through voice commands. Iveco Driver Pal also connects drivers, providing the ability to communicate with other drivers on their route to share information and advice.
Dawsongroup already had a strong relationship with Iveco and Northern Commercials, being impressed with the service provided and taking full advantage of the supplied robust vehicles as part of its truck and trailer business. The company’s familiarity and faith in Iveco products, born out by seeing their effectiveness in the real world, made the Iveco Daily a natural choice to expand its fleet.
These vehicles will see a host of different applications, with anticipated mileage ranging from 26,000 miles to 100,000 miles per year. Ensuring reliability and peace of mind was essential, and so each of these Iveco Daily features a three-year unlimited mileage warranty.
